There is no other Trek in all over the Western Himalayan region, which can match the grandeur and versatility of Pin Parvati Trek, Each day during this trek, the landscape assumes a new look. We start with Lush green forests into the widely extended meadows with variety of alpine flowers, streams and waterfalls. Slowly we approach the alpine area with high summits, numerous glaciers and tremendous moraines. Over the High mountain pass of Pin Parvati, the trek finally ends in the vast mountain desert region of Spiti.

As we move along the tremendous Parvati River, the first part is through the alpine forests and meadows with waterfalls but slowly the alpine area starts appearing as we view the high summits with hanging glaciers around us. These glaciers are the headwaters of the Parvati River. The mountains appear closer and closer. Along the trail, Mantalai is a big glaciated lake (Tarn) surrounded by high summits all around, it offers an incredible view. This Lake is the origin of Parvati River and religiously considered the abode of Lord Shiva. Now the journey is all the way through the massive moraine to the base of the Pin Parvati Pass. Trek to the top of the pass is on the glacier. The top offers magnificent panorama of the mountain range towards Kinnaur side. Towards Spiti lies totally barren chocolate colored mountains with incredible shades of brown, this is the pin Valley of Spiti. We trek through its beautiful villages such as Mud, Sagnam.

Pin Valley is the only place in Spiti area, where the old Tantrik Nying-pa sect of Buddhism is followed. Gungri Monastery in the Pin valley is its main centre, monastery is believed to have been founded by Padmasambhava. The trek finally ends at Gulling. Jeep would pick us up here. It is possible to either drive to Manali over Kunzum Pass or to Shimla through Kinnaur (Satluj Valley). |
