Alchi – Temisgam Trek - Exploring Ladakh,
in monasteries and Villages |

An easy going trek, takes one to the most ancient monastic complexes and beautiful Villages of Ladakh. Trek Starts from Alchi Village, famous for its, over thousand year old Monastery first to Likir Village, situated on the banks of Likir Tokpo, a tributary of Indus. The Village houses an interesting Monastery. From here the Journey moves over 3,550 Mts. high Pobe La to Village of Sumdo and then to Yangthang over Charatse La (3680 Mts.), with magnificent view of Zanskar Range. Here we take a side trip to Rizong Gompa. From here the trail leaves all signs of habitation behind Till Tsermangschan La (3750Mts.). The pass offers a beautiful view of the Village of Hemis Shukpachun. |

The trail now descends down to the Village, beautifully located amidst the green pastures and bubbling brooks. The trail further winds through the juniper trees to a small Pass (3,720 Mts.) offering magnificent views across south side of the Indus Valley, then descending down to the Village of Ang with its beautiful fields. Further following the trail down to the Village of Temisgam, the most prosperous Village of the Trek among the fertile fields and spreading orchards. The Village is also known for the treaty between Ladakh and Tibet, which established border between Ladakh and Tibet across the Pangong Tso and giving Ladakhi’s, the only right to buy valuable Pashmina wool from Tibet. The trek eventually ends at Khaltse across Bongbong La. |
